A resident of Washougal, WA, Darold Sims holds a master’s degree in educational technology from CITY University of Seattle, where he graduated with honors and earned the President’s Award for Achievement. Darold Sims also earned a bachelor's degree in science from Central Washington University, where he received the National Merit Award for Science and earned a spot on the dean’s list.

He also worked for Vacation Internationale, selling time-share packages.
